The syntax of this book was initially off-putting to me, but it ended up being what kept me glued to the page! The author intentionally omits quotation marks and similar tools of organization, so the pages bleed from intimate interior reflection to one character's dialogue to another and back again. The effect is cinematic in nature, bringing the reader into the scene in an alarmingly intimate way.
