Story
Born and raised in the Midwest, Catherine was lucky to be exposed to artistic creation of all kind from an early age. Her interest in sewing small projects like dolls soon led to an insatiable need to understand how clothing was built. The acquisition of her first sewing machine in adolescence combined with an interest in historical fiction launched her into the world of sewing period clothing.

Catherine's undergraduate degree in theatre allowed her to lean into these interests, as she focused on costume design. For the first time, she had access to formal training for sewing techniques she'd been experimenting with independently. She studied corset making at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and was awarded the regional Kennedy Center Award for Excellence in Costume Design for her designs for "Peter and the Starcatcher". She graduated from Boston College (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) with a B.A. in Theatre.

Post-graduation, she pivoted into the world of retail. Catherine gained analytical experience at a Fortune 500 company, working as an Allocation Analyst for TJX. This retail skillset dovetailed perfectly with Catherine's design background in her next career step - working as Design Assistant at Life is Good. She was promoted to her current role, Associate Designer, in February of 2024.

In addition to her professional life, Catherine engages with her community through involvement in myriad arts organizations. She is a founding member of Footwork and Frolick, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to the promotion of historical education through historical dance and other active pursuits, rooted in the social traditions of the American Northeast. She is a soprano in the Back Bay Chorale, and gives her time as a member of its Leadership Committee. Catherine also volunteers for the Boston Lyric Opera, providing perspective for its Under 45 demographic programming.
