This cuff embroidery was done for a friend's wedding! Marcus is a talented photographer and former co-worker of mine; he took most of the historical costume photos on this portfolio. Rather than charge a dollar amount, he suggested we do an art trade. His request was to have the cuffs of his wedding dress shirt embroidered with the same flowers that would be in his bride's bouquet.

It's been many years since I tackled an embroidery project (I think my last project was an Elizabethan coif for a college independent study), so I read a few tutorials to refresh my memory. I had so much fun using french knots to create hydrangeas, and using woven roses to depict peonies. After some blood (finger pricking is inevitable) and sweat (moving a needle through dense cuff fabric is hard work!) but no tears, I think it turned out quite well.

The project took about twelve hours (six per cuff).
